York Minster -- View from the East

Visited 19 March 2006

This is about as close as the York walls get to the east end of the Minster.  Unfortunately, the rehab obscured our view of one of the greatest stained glass windows in the world, over the size of a tennis court.  It was built between 1405 and 1408 at the cost of 56 English pounds.  I don't know if this included the 10 pound bonus for completing on time.  The contract allowed for no payment if the Dean and chapter didn't like the window.  The rehab six centuries later will likely cost more.
